Which one is it?

Its a cold winter night..the wind is playing its usual music outside my window, while the street lights keep it company. I looked outside and saw a full moon. It was so round and so perfect, i hadn't realized that i spent 15 minutes gazing at it trying to find a default, i could almost see it smile at me. The truth is, i couldn't find anything wrong with it. It is a perfect circle, because it is god's creation. It looked so far away, yet shined as if it were hovering above the roof next door. I looked at this silver moon and i was struck with a sudden rush of inspiration. The thoughts came running into my mind as though trying to catch a train that is leaving and may not come back!

I wonder, when we are presented with choices in life, which one do we choose? I also wonder, which of these choices is an opportunity, and which is a test? I know that many of you are wondering the exact same thing i am. Everytime i was presented with two choices in my life, i wondered..which one? I know many of us will say "it depends", and it is true, it does depend. But if these choices were able to talk, they would also wonder which of us they will best fit with. I think that the most important condition that we should worry about when making any decision, is happiness. When you are presented with two options at any point in time, ask yourself only one question. Which one will make me happy? Life doesn't care how much money you make, or which school your degree is from, or where you will end up living and settling to start your family. Life will only present these opportunities and chances, and then it will wave its hands good bye and move on to the next person who will be faced to make the decision you once had to make. Upon each decision made on this planet, and throughout these years, is a different outcome. Do you think you are the only one who once asked yourself "which school should i graduate from in order to make a good living and achieve my dreams?!" Well, i am afraid i have to say that you are not the only one. In fact, you asked the same question that millions of people before you have asked themselves. The question was always the same throughout the years, but the outcome was always different with each and every one of us because we all had different answers in order to reach certain goals. You are probably wondering where i am getting at with all this, and it is simple. Do whatever makes you happy, because once this decision is made, life will definitly give you another one. The new choices that you may have to make are probably going to be harder the more you grow and the older you are. At the age of 10, your choices were "do you want chocolate milk or apple juice?" At the age of 15 your choices were something like this "What color dress should i wear for my birthday?" At the age of 25 you ask yourself "should i marry him?" At the age of 30 you say "Which preschool shall i put my babies at?" and the list goes on. Therefore, whatever your heart tells you to do, do it. Your heart wants you to be happy, and it is the only one that will surely get you to happiness because it knows you best. It carries so many of your deep thoughts that you dare not share with the world. It quietly guides you through life down the path of happiness, but many of us unfortunatly don't listen to it. The sounds around us distract us from the most important voice within.
I believe that when we have two choices, and we are afraid to make the one that we think is the road to our happiness, and we decide on the one that makes more sense or seems logical, we just wasted a perfect opportunity. Whenever you have a chance to be happy, take it. It is said that you should live every day like its your last, and it is a very true saying, simply because one day your going to be right.

Against All Odds

My dear readers, its been a very long time since i last sat down and was inspired to write. But recently, something happened that moved me, enlightened me. Something sparked inspiration to my mind again, and i suddenly had the urge to sit down, open my blog and write every word that came to my mind. As i sat down infront of my laptop, with a hot cup of coffee sitting still next to me, as its soft steam and comforting aroma rose in the air, while the rain was pouring outside my window, and the moonlight was shining brightly and giving me a glowing glare against the glass of my window pane, as if to smile down on me and reassure me that it is safe to share my thoughts with the world, i felt like it was the perfect atmosphere for me to enter my zone and organize my thoughts and write.
When i drift away in my thoughts, i travel to places and retrieve many memories that i forgot i even had. Well, my story is quite a long one. But i wont go through my entire story, i will only give you a small sneak peek at a certain special part of my life. I will tell you a little bit of the chapter about my life in Canada. This will be one of the biggest memories that will be treasured in my heart forever. It is now the year 2009, and it is coming to an end. As we approach the end of the year, it feels as though i just arrived here yesterday. I have lived in Canada for the past few years, which i can safely conclude were very fruitful, eventful, and wonderful. I have indeed spent the best years of my life here. I came a young girl at the age of 19, and will leave as a young woman at the age of 24. I know that many people understand what i mean and can relate to what i am saying. I guess my thoughts are scattered all over the place and everytime i feel as though i caught the first thought that i will begin to write with, it turns out there is a previous thought entangled to it. During the few years i lived here, i've had to make certain decisions and face certain consequences. Many of the decisions i made were wrong, but that didnt matter much because i learned a fortune, at every step of the way. They say the greatest teacher in life is experience, and i am afraid they are right. I hope that i may get the chance one day to thank everyone and everything that contributed to making me who i am today. There were times when i felt beaten, outclassed, and overwhelmed. And those were the times that i was myself's best friend. I saw my path diverge into more than one road, and i had to choose which path i wanted to walk down. And i noticed that no matter what path i chose, i always stumbled and i always faced obsticles. But no matter how big the rock i stumbled against, i was always able to move it, jump over it, or go around it. As i type these words and watch them appear on my screen, i feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulder. People carry weights of different measures on their shoulders. The weights i carry are words, many many words. And when i type them out and express them in written, i feel as though i just emptied my glass and then the thoughts come pouring in again as if to fill it up for the next time inspiration decides to pay me a visit. I put together these words that i thought you might enjoy reading. I believe that words have magic, especially when they come from the heart. They can touch us, move us, delight us, enlighten us, make us laugh, make us cry, and both soften and enrich our deepest memories. Kind words are the tie that bind one stranger to another, often in friendship, sometimes in love, always in better understanding. My fingers are beginning to ache, and my eyes are beginning to slowly blink as though to signal to me that it is enough writing for tonight. My body is getting ready to rest and restore its energy again for tomorrow. Against all odds, i believe that tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day! I say good night to the world and wish everybody the sweetest dreams... :)

Great Minds..

Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people..
So which mind do you possess? a great, average, or small mind?
We waste our time everyday thinking about what he/she wore yesterday at the party, or what he/she said about my income and how much i dont earn as much as him/her, or what party were going to attend next, or when the next social gathering is going to be because we want to be the center of attention. But NO NO NO! This is all wrong, we should be thinking of our future, our dreams, our hopes while we live. I know that you always hear this statement "lets make this world a better place", but have you ever thought about what YOU could do to actually make a difference? the difference doesnt have to affect others around you, it just needs to affect you and bring all the happiness, contentment, and piece of mind to urself because you deserve it.
I have always dreamed of leaving my mark on this world before i leave it. I want to travel the world, go to different countries and learn different cultures, taste all kinds of different foods, speak many languages, and enjoy every piece of music i listen to because no matter what language it is in, music is always beautiful in its own way. Music is the language of the soul. Its a form of ancient art that was, and always will be, a part of this world.
I have come to learn that we, as humans, have so much potential. I've also come to learn that in order for me to pursue my happiness, i must set my foot and take a step in the right a direction. There is only so much one could do, and our minds are more than capable of creating so many thoughts and ideas ranging from fantastic, genious, sophisticated, outstanding thoughts and ideas, to horrible, sick, outrageous, dreadful, appalling thoughts and ideas. It is said that we can only use 10% of our brain potential, and with that 10%, you see that we've accomplished so much since we've lived on this planet. With that 10%, we flew to the moon, came up with the internet, and now we can locate ourselves through Google Earth! But if you think about it, all these things were invented by people, but not just any people, people with Great minds. People who made a difference and gave us a better, more comfortable life because they sat everyday discussing ideas and ways to implement them. People who dedicated themselves to these creations, and molded the path for us so that we live a happier, easier life. I always give myself a few moments to think about everything around me. Everything happens for a reason, and everything that happens means something. It could be small, and it could be big, but it always means something because if it didnt, then it wouldnt happen in the first place. Our minds were God's gift to us, and that is what differentiates us from any other living creature. Think about this, and believe that you have so much to give to this world, but you dont even know it! You have so much power and knowledge, just waiting to be used. Do the things that you love to do, and know that by doing so, your already leaving your mark on the world. When you let your light shine, you un-intentionally give permission for others to do the same. Only then, can you consider yourself possessing a great mind..

Experience, the greatest teacher of all..

I met an old man this evening, that was very eager to tell me a story..As i was studying at Tim Hortons for one of my final exams, he saw me drift away in thought and he said "it seems as though ur very stressed. Your eyes say alot"..I said "yes, i am"..my eyes have witnessed alot and there is only so much they could say. I felt like my eyes were speaking so much faster than my mind was thinking. They were just unraveling all the experiences that i went through during my 23 years of life. They may sound like only a few years to have lived, but i believe that everyday we live is an entire lifetime. If you think of all the different experiences and events that happen to you everyday, you would find that you can write a story, a whole book, about the life you had during that day. And i would call it "A Life in the day of Zeina", instead of "A day in the life of Zeina"..The old man then told me that life is full of surprises and disappointments..He said, "dont be thrown off when you dont get what you want..because if you didnt get disappointed, how will u know you could have such feelings? Life is negative and positive..If you look at a light bulb, it works through the connection of a negative and positive wire, but if you cut out either one of them, it will break down, because it needs both wires to work and light up. So do we..if we always got what we wanted and never had to face any downsides, we will always be missing something. However, dont mistake what i say child, because sometimes, if you believe in something so much, then you should pursue it and make it happen. You have so much potential, and i can see that by the looks of you, you are a very persistent girl. Dont ever let anyone put you down, stand up for what you believe in and be certain you will get it. If i learned one thing in life, is to fully trust my heart and listen to it. Be a good listener, especially to your heart, because it knows best. Even if you think you might get hurt, at least you gained that experience"....As he spoke, i tried to absorb everything he said, and i listened very carefully because i know that one day, i will go through an experience where i will need his words to help me decide how to deal with it wether it be good or bad. I knew i would need his wisdom and knowledge. I noticed all the wrinkles on his face, which displayed how much he's seen through the years, and how much hes learned from life as he woke up everyday. They were the same wrinkles that my grandfather had before he passed away. He used to speak to me of many things, mostly related to my beloved home land, Palestine. He used to tell me how many olive trees he planted while struggling to get through the sentence because his eyes wont stop spilling tear drops everytime he opened that subject. In his eyes, i could see a whole lifetime of experiences and events, that affected him eternally. A whole history that is undescribable in words because it displayed generations of hurt, pain, and agony for the most valuable property known to man kind, his home land. It displayed anger, frustration, and a longing to take one more glance, up close, at the most beautiful creation that was ever created, his home land. I then cut my train of thought, and thanked the old man for his knowlegable words, and he left..I believe that everything he spoke of was true. He was a very wise man, and i think that my encounter with him taught me so much about myself, and that on its own was a great experience..

Love & Age

Were so arrogent arent we? were so afraid of age, we do everything we can to prevent it..we dont realize what a privelege it is to grow old with someone.. someone who loves you unconditionally to want nothing but ur happiness..some one who doesnt humiliate you beyond repair..someone who doesnt drive you to commit murder to ur heart..someone who strives to make as many memories with you as possible so that when they are gone, these memories will help you carry on everyday without them..someone who will send u flowers, just because its tuesday..someone you can have the best conversation with, without niether of u having to say a word..this love is like a flower's love for life..just like a warm red rose that grows, blooms, and blossoms as it stands tall while the hot rays of the golden sun gently kiss its petals. At some point in its life-span, spring turns to winter, and this rose is covered with snow and ice, yet its still standing tall and holding on till the very last petal falls off.
i speak of love, yet am very young and naive about the meaning of this word.. because its a word that holds many secrets..its an enchanted potion that lies in the hearts of two lovers that once drank from the same glass..they drank that potion and filled their hearts and souls until they became addicted to love..it then became the building block of their life together..
